PUSH Felicitates PFUJ for Successful Rally on Press Freedom Day

ISLAMABAD: Press United to Serve Humanity (PUSH), a Pakistan-based, non-profit, non-governmental and non-sectarian consortium of journalists working for the freedom of press and protection of human rights in a statement here on Tuesday felicitated Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) for holding successful grand car rally on Press Freedom Day. PUSH lauding the efforts of PFUJ for the protection of journalists’ rights and press freedom, said the efforts of the media organizations will yield positive results for the freedom of press in coming days.

Urgent Appeal to Help a Journalist Who Lost His Hand

ISLAMABAD: Press United to Serve Humanity (PUSH) a Pakistan-based non-profit, non-governmental, and non-sectarian consortium of journalists working for the freedom of press and protection of human rights, has appealed for financial help of a Quetta-based journalist who lost his arm during professional duty. In a press release issued here on Friday, PUSH demanded of the Ministry of Information to come forward for the help of Irshad Mastoi. The journalist currently working with ONLINE international news network as a reporter from Quetta Balochistan, lost his right hand while performing professional duty last year during NFC Award ceremony in Gwadar, due to high transmission electricity shock.

PUSH Expresses Concern Over Suicides Driven by Poverty

ISLAMABAD: Press United to Serve Humanity (PUSH), a Pakistan-based, non-profit, non-governmental and non-sectarian consortium of journalists working for the freedom of press and protection of human rights, in a statement here on Sunday expressed deep concern over growing incidents of suicides due to poverty. Expressing sorrow over the incident of suicide by a newly wed couple few days back driven by poverty, PUSH demanded of the government to take concrete measures for poverty alleviation in the country.

PUSH to Observe National Day of Greece in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Greece was the first country in Europe where advanced early civilizations emerged and it was the founding member of United Nations as well as the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization. This was expressed in a felicitation message on the National Day of Greece, issued by Press United to Serve Humanity (PUSH), the non-profit consortium of Pakistan-based journalists working for freedom of press and protection of human rights. The National Day is being observed on March 25, 2010.

PUSH Demands End to Unjustified Internet Censorship in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (March 11, 2010): There should be a list, publicly available on PTA website, of the banned websites in Pakistan along with the reason of the ban. There should also be a procedure to review the decisions of blocking such websites. This was demanded by Press United to Serve Humanity (PUSH), a Pakistan-based non-profit, non-governmental, and non-sectarian consortium of journalists working for the freedom of press and protection of human rights, in the context of the call by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) to observe March 12 as “World Day against Cyber Censorship”.
